Tempelhof

landscape // Berlin (Germany)

Tempelhof is much more than an airport. It is above all a territory: a physical and mental territory, a territory of history and of the future, a territory of utopia and desire.

Our proposal takes the measure of a territory dotted with villages addressing different users, with different programmes. They would be a first stage in the development of the site. These stations, each anchoring a utopia, a landscape, refer as much to space conquest (satellites) as to a rural landscape (hamlets), as much to the world of aeronautics (satellites) as to experimental ecology (farms), as much to innovation as to the origin of the world.

In our proposal, few new paths would be created; the existing buildings would be preserved, adapted or extended, and the runways would continue to carry most of the circulation.

The existing runways would be converted into urban promenades, directly connected to the city. As for the open space, it was the study of its subtle variations that guided a division into inaccessible natural meadows, gardens, woodland, pastures, lawns and biomass production.

The open space is shared between nature (meadows, reserves) and agriculture (livestock, biomass)
