Landscape Bench
In the collective imagination, the time of construction is still one of indeterminacy, heightening the anticipation of what is to come.
Temporary furniture and urban temporality
The neglected grass strip, facing south/west along its full length, hosts the temporary furniture entitled “landscape bench”. It accompanies the final phase of construction of the ZAC Bords de Seine – ANRU and welcomes existing uses, lending them a little more urbanity and dignity (seating, picnics, meeting up, gatherings). Its construction and presence on site are an act of urbanity, making available the landscape and use qualities envisaged in the design of the future pedestrian mall (planted lounges, planted squares, forecourts, sunken garden). Through this prefiguration approach, the construction period becomes a living time that already offers residents the qualities of a shared space.
Furniture of anticipation
Installing the landscape bench on site for a year and a half is in itself a process of testing and refining uses for the future public spaces of the pedestrian mall. The temporary nature of the furniture makes it possible to test spatial typologies, developing those that work well and, conversely, abandoning those that prove obsolete or problematic.
A reversible, resource-light installation: dismountable furniture in rough timber and container-grown birches intended to be replanted in the future pedestrian mall.
